Keeping It Local: Trendy Sierra Belle Boutique
RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - For some women, shopping is all about finding a look that no one else has. At Sierra Belle Boutique in Midtown, they're always adding new clothing and accessories to their lineup. Owner Katherine Bock says she is constantly restocking the store.
"I put out new things on a weekly basis, and I keep up with trends and the seasons," she says.
Bock worked in retail for several years while living in southern California, but when she moved to Reno she felt like there was something missing on the fashion front.
"When we moved out here I was having trouble finding clothes that I really liked. So I would just wait to go back to southern California to do all my shopping," she says.
So, Bock decided to bring the styles she was used to seeing in California to the Biggest Little City.
"I go to trade shows, I got to LA all the time, and I hand pick all the items that you see in the store," she says.
If you see something you like, you might want to buy it right away, because there's a good chance you won't see it again. Bock says once she sells out of an item she usually won't order more.
"Being that we're a small town, I don't want to just keep bringing the same thing over and over again. I want everyone to feel like they're unique," she says.
Although she sells a lot of clothes that come from the LA area, Bock's goal is provide SoCal styles at an affordable price.
"I do a lot of research, and so when I do my pricing I always want to do it where I feel like it's at a good price for the women in Reno," she says.
Sierra Belle Boutique is open 7 days a week in the Sticks shopping center at 726 South Virginia Street. The store will have its grand opening Saturday January 23rd from 12-2 p.m. There will be free wine and appetizers, and 10% of the store's profits will go to Step 2, a local non-profit that helps women rebuild their lives after recovering from addiction.
